About Seth Edwards, LCSW, LCAS-A

Meet Seth

Seth Edwards, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate, specializes in counseling for adults and older adolescents. He holds a Master of Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Social Work from UNC Greensboro. Seth’s career commenced with in-home outpatient counseling and clinical assessments at a community mental health setting. This experience enabled Seth to refine his abilities in formulating mental health and substance use diagnoses, providing sound treatment recommendations, and offering therapy to clients across various age groups. Seth subsequently transitioned to private practice, where he has continued to deliver counseling services to adolescents and adults.

Seth’s areas of specialization include anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship issues, trauma, and ADHD. He has extensive experience working with LGBTQ+ individuals, those living with HIV, and individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

In his counseling sessions, Seth adopts a person-centered approach, fostering a genuine person-to-person connection, focused on your self-exploration and growth. He recognizes the importance of interpersonal relationships and focuses on fostering healthy connections with others, including the therapist-client relationship. Seth explores various aspects of his clients’ lives, such as thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and environment. He does so by drawing from a range of therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness approaches.

Seth is dedicated to fostering an inclusive and affirming environment where everyone feels valued and respected. He places a strong emphasis on creating a safe space for you to explore your unique experiences, including how the intersections of your identities have shaped them. Seth prioritizes your comfort and trust, and he encourages you to ask questions and express your needs to ensure you feel secure in sharing your story.
