Support that meets you where you are
Starting therapy can feel like a big step.
Adding in a commute, a packed schedule, or trying to coordinate childcare can make it feel even harder to follow through.
Telehealth therapy removes those barriers, so getting support can feel more doable, and more consistent.
You might be looking for something that fits more easily into your life:
Attending sessions from the comfort of your home
Fitting therapy into a busy work or family schedule
Avoiding long commutes or time spent in traffic
Having more privacy and flexibility in how you receive care
Staying consistent with therapy, even during life’s busy seasons
When life is already full, therapy should feel accessible
Life doesn’t slow down just because you’re struggling.
You may be balancing work, relationships, family, or simply trying to keep up with everything on your plate—while also dealing with anxiety, stress, or emotional overwhelm.
Telehealth therapy makes it easier to prioritize your mental health without adding more stress to your schedule.
Our therapists work with individuals navigating:
anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed
depression and low motivation
trauma and difficult past experiences
relationship challenges and life transitions
A flexible, effective way to experience therapy
Telehealth therapy offers the same level of care as in-person sessions, just in a more flexible format.
Through secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions, you can connect with a licensed therapist from wherever you feel most comfortable.
Many people find that being in their own space actually helps them open up more and feel more at ease during sessions.
Getting Started Is Easy
STEP ONE: CONTACT US
At any point in your decision to pursue therapy or assessment, feel free to contact us with questions. We will gladly talk with you over the phone to determine if one of us will be a good fit. Visit our Contact Page.
STEP TWO: INTAKE
Once you have scheduled an appointment, you will be emailed forms to complete electronically prior to your first appointment. If we are in-network with your Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, or State Health Plan insurance benefits will be processed.
STEP THREE: FIRST SESSION
Your first appointment will be 60 minutes. In this first appointment, we will discuss what brought you in, your history, and will develop a “game plan” with you to work toward your goals.
Curious about telehealth therapy?
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
Many people start therapy simply because they notice something from the past is still affecting how they feel today.
If you’d like to learn more about telehealth therapy or talk through whether it might be helpful in your situation, you’re welcome to contact Acacia Collaborative.
No pressure, just an opportunity to ask questions and explore your options.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take insurance?
Most providers at Acacia are in-network with most Aetna and BCBS plans and the NC State Health Plan. We do not accept UNC Health Alliance & our psychological and psychoeducational evaluations are out of network.
For other insurance providers, we provide everything you need to easily file with your insurance, including an insurance “super bill” or statement of services and a link to your claim form. We are also happy to reach out to your insurance company, with your permission, if you would find that helpful.
I’m in the process of shopping for a therapist, is there a way for me to speak with one of you to see if we are a good fit before committing to working with you?
Yes! “Fit” with your therapist is the most important element that makes therapy work (according to studies, even more important than training or length of experience!). Thus, we prioritize making this part very easy for you.
There are some things that are bothering me, but also some things I specifically don't want to talk about. Is that ok?
Absolutely. At Acacia Collaborative, we “meet you where you are.” This means that we do not force you to talk about topics you are not ready to discuss or do not feel are relevant. We are trained at various levels of “depth” of treatment and believe there is no one “right” way to be in therapy.
While most people do choose to have weekly sessions for the first few months, we are flexible about how often and how long you would like your sessions to be. We will offer suggestions, but ultimately, it is your decision about what you would like to get out of therapy.
What is telehealth therapy and how does it work?
Telehealth therapy is simply therapy done online through secure, HIPAA-compliant video sessions.
Instead of coming into an office, you meet with your therapist from a space that feels comfortable to you—whether that’s your home, your office, or even your car during a break in your day.
Once you’re scheduled, you’ll receive a private link to join your session. At your appointment time, you log in, connect with your therapist, and your session flows much like it would in person.
All you need is a reliable internet connection and a quiet, private space where you feel comfortable talking.
Is there a difference between in-person and telehealth therapy?
Both formats offer the same level of professional care and support. The biggest difference is how you access it.
In-person therapy gives you a dedicated space outside your home, which some people prefer for separation and routine.
Telehealth therapy offers more flexibility and convenience, making it easier to stay consistent—especially with a busy schedule or limited time.
Many people are surprised to find that telehealth feels just as personal and effective. In some cases, being in your own environment can even make it easier to open up and feel at ease.
Ultimately, both options are effective—it comes down to what feels most comfortable and sustainable for you.
